  This course is designed for for new teachers hired to work in Pender County Schools who need basic training in how to use NC WISE. This is a self-directed course. (0 Credit)
  
• Professional Development "In-Hand"

  This is a year-long, online course for district educators participating in the Professional Development "In-Hand" program. This class focuses on the iPod Touch as a tool for professional development and networking. It is a year-long course with new lessons and resources added regularly. At the end of the year, each participant will have completed approximately 25 hours of online professional development for a total of 2.5 CEU's. Participants should plan to check into the course at least once per week.
• Networking, Collaboration, and Learning in Second Life

  Description:  This course is designed for educators who want to familiarize themselves with the ins and outs of multi-user virtual environments, or MUVE’s.In this course we’ll explore one such “world” known as Second Life.The focus of this course will be the use of virtual worlds as a tool to enhance collaboration as well as their potential as an educational tool.Participants in this course will explore some of the innovative ways Second Life is being used in education while learning the basics of life in a virtual world.Together we’ll embark on weekly virtual field trips to explore key education-oriented landmarks in Second Life while communicating by voice in real time.Weekly forum discussions about the latest news and research regarding MUVE’s in education will also be a key component of the course.

  Class for AlertNow users describing how to send messages, access administrative tools and manage contact information.  This is a self-directed course. (0 Credits)

• PCS Technology Orientation - Using The Technology Work Order System (Self-Directed)

  In this self-directed, mini-course, you will learn how to access the PCS Technology Work Order System and how to submit a work order for technology-related issues. This is part one of the PCS Technology Orientation series.  This is a self-directed course (0 Credits).
  
• PCS Technology Orientation - Shortcuts 101 (Self-Directed)

  In this self-directed, mini-course you will learn a number of useful technology tips and tricks including keyboard shortcuts, time-saving shortcuts for Microsoft Office, the Internet, and other PC applications. These tips will help you to become a smarter and more efficient technology user. This is part two of the PCS Technology Orientation. This is a self-directed course (0 Credits)

  Available for all PCS employees, this self-directed course reviews issues related to copyright in the school setting.

• PCS Technology Orientation - Logging into Staff Development (Self-Directed)

  In this self-directed, mini-course you will learn how to access and log into the PCS Staff Development System, search for available workshops, how to submit your evaluation for CEU's, and how to manage your account. This course is part three of the PCS Technology Orientation series. This is a self-directed course (0 Credits).
